EED 2026 Carer and accessibility conference grants

Financial assistance is available to 1) offset caring costs incurred by attendees due to conference attendance, or 2) contribute toward additional attendance costs created by individual needs such as disability or medical requirements.The grant award will be a maximum of £500 and the scientific committee will rank and select proposals according to the availability of budget. We are able to finance in the order of ten awards.GrantsFor carers, grants must be used towards costs incurred due to conference attendance, and not for care that would be given irrespective of the meeting. Eligible costs include fees for a baby-sitter or childcare facility, travel costs for a care giver, travel costs for taking the child to the meeting, etc. For accessibility grants eligible costs are flexible and may include costs incurred by the applicant and/or their assistant(s) in order to attend the conference. Visa fees are not eligible costs for this grant.EligibilityThe grant is only available for attending EED2026 in Glasgow, UK, and will only be awarded once applicants have completed conference registration (note that payment is not required at the time of registration). Presentation of a talk or poster at the conference is a condition of eligibility. If oversubscribed priority may be given to early-career researchers and first-time attendees.We are not able to accept applications from countries where UK government sanctions would prevent payment of an award (see here for information on the countries affected).How to applyTo apply please fill in the application form. Please email completed applications to Carmel McDougall (cm107@st-andrews.ac.uk).Successful applicants will usually receive their funding shortly after the conference. All receipts or other proof of payment must be forwarded to the grant officers to obtain the grant. Successful grants will be paid directly to your bank account. The committee may consider pre-payment for any awardees that are unable to cover costs upfront – these arrangements will be made upon request after the grants have been awarded.Application Deadline: Tuesday 26th May 2026.
